Programme & Project Inclusive Practice Development
Adam works on creating opportunities for communities to contribute to positive change in health and wellbeing. He leads the Sheffield Type 2 Diabetes Action Hub, collaborating with local organisations and communities to develop solutions for preventing and managing Type 2 Diabetes. His work focuses on equity, participation, and ensuring that those most affected by health inequalities have a voice in shaping decisions that impact their lives.
He also supports Move More Empowered Communities, using participatory approaches to promote active lifestyles and community-led action. In addition, he contributes to the development of more inclusive project management practices, aiming to make project delivery more collaborative and equitable.
By helping to create spaces where people, communities, and organisations can work together, Adam supports the voluntary and community sector in leading change that reflects local needs and strengths. Through participatory and collaborative approaches, he works to address inequalities and contribute to community-driven impact.
Sarah joined VAS in 2019 as the Community Outreach Lead for Healthwatch Sheffield, having gained experience in various roles within the charity sector. While she valued her time at Healthwatch, she wanted to have a greater impact on how people access health services. A strong interest in physical activity led to her transition into the Move More team at VAS.
As the Project Manager for the Move More Connecting Communities programme, Sarah supports community organisations to engage residents in the delivery of local physical activity opportunities. This might include helping residents start a walking group, organising cook, eat, and exercise events, or working with sports providers to commission community-based programmes. Her collaborative approach focuses on improving physical well-being and strengthening community connections through shared activities and resources.
Kate joined VAS as a Volunteer Advisor in 2023 and really enjoyed the culture of inclusivity and support she encountered. This role led her to develop an interest in working within the VCS.
She now supports the Move More and Sheffield Type 2 Diabetes Action Hub team at VAS with administration. The vision of the organisation and the importance of the work align with her core values.
Kate also works in the creative arts and runs her own sole trader business—experiences which have developed her organisational and communication skills, as well as her ability to be a productive team member.
In Frances’s current role as a Project Administrator within the Program/Project Inclusive Practice team, she is currently working on the Sheffield Diabetes Type 2 Action Hub. She supports inclusive and community-focused project delivery by working closely with colleagues and partners to ensure that projects are well-managed, financially transparent, and grounded in values of equity and collaboration.
A big part of her role involves managing the team budgets, supporting funding compliance, and ensuring financial reporting is accurate and accountable, and helping projects run smoothly and sustainably while supporting inclusive practice, participation, and community-led action.
Frances also organises and coordinates Sheffield Type 2 Diabetes Action Hub events including Connection Cafés to support and ignite meaningful collaboration between community organisations. Showcase Events are being planned to share and hear what other community organisations have been doing to tackle Type 2 Diabetes in the communities who are most affected in Sheffield.
