The New Beginnings Project

The New Beginnings Project helps asylum seekers and refugees access opportunities to volunteer, work, and participate in social activities in Sheffield.

We help foster fulfilling, empowered, autonomous, and interconnected lives through clear and impactful progression routes that prioritise leadership skills development, foster peer-support networks, and apply to ‘real-world’ employment and volunteering roles.

We are connectors to local charity organisations, open spaces, education institutions, and employment providers to promote integration and inclusion, reduce isolation, and enhance well-being so that our clients feel respected and valued as members of the community. We can provide your organisation with advice, information, and an understanding of how to involve asylum seekers and refugees, as well as ongoing support to do so.

How we work with you

We work closely with organisations to develop pathways to access meaningful and customised training, volunteering, and employment activities. We focus especially on enabling individuals to create positive change within their lives and communities and giving them opportunities to integrate more confidently into life in Sheffield.

By connecting with our clients, you can bring more expertise, skills and experience to your organisation and have more diverse perspectives. You can help your organisation play its part in making Sheffield a welcoming place for asylum seekers and refugees, fostering a more inclusive, equitable and open-minded community.

With our thorough understanding of the asylum process, we can help you understand the barriers our clients face and provide a straightforward approach to overcoming them.  We work with organisations across the city and local area to positively affect our clients’ lives.
